ARTIST STATEMENT OF NEW YORK METRO URBAN & INDUSTRIAL LANDSCAPES
[Art makes people aware of their stream of consciousness. One very important aspect of art is that it makes people aware of what they know and what they don’t know that they know.]
Art is a universal language that connects with all people from different cultures of all ages.
My body of work showcase shapes, colors, texture and techniques with several layers of paint. The semi-abstract work is my interpretation of a vision derived from modern life influenced by the new technology, urban scenes and cityscapes with a bird’s-eye view. The method of my painting is spontaneous with the rapid execution of painterly expressionist approach and equated with a storytelling of the human genius in developing the land to best suit our inhabitant of modern industrial and corporate world that shaped our live-work-play lifestyle. The strokes are meant to convey my perception of the speed and flux of modern life. My objective is to bring forth the hidden characters of an urban scene in neoplasticism style that solidify my identity among my contemporaries.
The process of each painting is a simple 2-4 steps process and follows a area construction, starting with a black and white loose sketch or under painting of an urban scene. The deconstruction process begins by applying translucent strokes layers of paint to finish with a semi-abstract fragmented expressionist painting of the scene.
